The Marvel of Reverse Osmosis
Of the three essentials of life, air, water, and food, God developed methods that produced pure products. The water-cycle on earth allows for purification through natural methods. As scientists searched for a solution, a wonder of nature was revealed to Dr. Stephen Sourirajon, a professor at University of California in 1969. When observing the seagull, he discovered this bird possessed a special membrane in its throat that allowed it to drink salt water, absorb only the water, and spit out the salt.

This observation inspired him to develop the first functional synthetic Reverse Osmosis membrane capable of rejecting salt and passing fresh water at reasonable flow rates and realistic pressures. The R/O semi permeable membrane works by water being forced over its surface under pressure (at least 60 PSI is needed – higher PSI produces purer water faster).  H2O and Oxygen passes thru this membrane as pure water. The other noxious chemical pollutants are not able to pass thru.  Only part of the water makes its way thru the membrane the rest serves to flush or self-clean the membrane. Therefore R/O filters do not become saturated like all Charcoal filters do.

An R/O semi permeable membrane can last for years under optimal conditions – The more it is used the better.  Overtime tiny holes can develop in the membrane & let contaminants pass thru.  With most other filter systems available you never know when contaminants are passed thru.  We have developed the annual R.O.P.E.
