Water Contaminants

goldfishWhat contaminants are in water and why are they there?

Pollution from industry, farming and human wastes all find their way into our water supply. Even though the U.S. politicians have set limits on the amount of contaminants allowed in our drinking water, we believe that these limits are too high. The toxins in drinking water collect on our organs over time and have been show to cause various illnesses. The miles of pipe (many times rather old) between the water plant and your home can also introduce contaminants. We advise against drinking unfiltered tap water. It just makes sense to really purify our water at the point-of-use rather than somewhat purifying all the water a city uses for industry, business and homes.

The average tap water in the U.S. contains 2100 toxic chemicals that are known to cause cancer, cell mutation and nervous disorders. The EPA says that the U.S. generates over 80,000,000 pounds of toxic waste each year that is not disposed of properly and makes its way into the drinking water. About 53,000, 000 Americans drink water that is polluted with feces, radiation, or other contaminants, and 45,000.000 people drink water that is contaminated with the parasite cryptosposridium. Over one half of all Americans drink water that has been used at least once before. Low estimates indicated that at least 400,000cases of illness in the U.S. each year can be contributed to contaminated water. Long term responses number in the millions. With all due respect for the job the water departments do by preventing the outbreak of epidemics, it still doesn’t mean that you should be drinking or bathing in that water as it comes into your house.  Point of Light, June/July 2008.

1.    Heavy metals – like lead, cadmium, mercury, and arsenic are found in all water to varying degrees. We utilize National Testing Laboratories, Ltd, to conduct your water purity tests for 100 contaminants. Our Reverse Osmosis unit will remove these toxins from your drinking water.

2.    Volatile contaminants – such as chlorine, ammonia, Trihalomethanes, and byproducts from pesticides and herbicides. Our Reverse Osmosis units remove all traces of these volatile toxins from your drinking water

3.    Bacteria – This NTL test also reveals the presence of all bacteria. For this we provide all sizes of Ultra-Violet purifiers which kill bacteria.

After every test has been done the customer and Ozark Water and Air receive a report of the results.  We offer you a free phone consultation to help you decide how to purify your water. We also offer whole house dechlorinators, water softeners, and shower dechlorinators. With over thirty years of experience in the water business we are ready to assist you.
